As per pointblankrpg's comment on ModDB (https://www.moddb.com/mods/jkgfxmod/downloads/jkgfx2019/#comments), could scaling the in-game text be separated from scaling the in-game HUD?

I found a solution in the meantime, which was to download and install msgfont16.sft from here: http://www.jkhub.net/project/show.php?projid=343§ion=downloads
I will update my ModDB comment with this info in the meantime. Not the best solution, still somewhat big, but not super massive.
