Mute messages groups

Really want this feature, I like push notifications but i don't wan't to receive them for ads or promo emails

Agreed - those notifications for Promo emails are annoying.

Seems that there is an api for getting the the unread count for each label:
https://developers.google.com/gmail/api/v1/reference/users/labels#resource

I have to find time to play with this and maybe make a pull request.

Thanks! The link to the docs is helpful. No progress on this one from me yet. I added the "help wanted" label for now and will remove it when I get a chance to catch up on these issues.

What I've been doing personally is unsubscribing from all promotions. I recognize that not everybody wants to do this though.
