I had the same issue with 11.0.1.
Change the "distributionUrl" in gradle-wrapper.properties to "https://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-4.10.2-all.zip" and "ext.kotlin" in build.gradle to "'1.3.10'".
After these, the compilation started, but it had problems with undefined references to javafx (probably something with the javafx decoupling in JDK11).
