Version 2.8.4 is now contained within the master branch. With this release I am hoping that any remaining issues have now been addressed since the initial Phoenix release. Most of the changes found in this release center around the current portal's "advanced" options, in particular when viewing historic flight data stored locally. Along with rewrites to the existing flights.py and maintenance.py scripts and the addition of data previously missing from the plots page, an image of the aircraft in question are now displayed thanks to data provided by Planespotters.net.
Admittedly, the data displayed in the portal is still rudimentary at best, but I will be doing my best to keep the current PHP version of the portal in step with the next generation portal when possible even as the end of life for the PHP based portal draws near. This being said, while development progresses on the next gen portal you can look forward to more updates and improvements to the existing portal in the form of additional v2.x releases ahead of v3 which will introduce the next gen portal as part of a general release. Additional v2.x releases can also be expected including the addition of new installation options as well as fixes to any bug reports received ahead of v3.
As mentioned in an earlier announcement, a new feeder option has been added to this release as well. The option to install the airplanes.live feeder client has been added to the feeder client install options.
For this release a special thanks goes out to @target-drone for his contribution noting a SQL issue with maintenance.py.
