Select screen area to record

Longtime QuickRecorder user here - I'd love the ability to draw a box around a section of the screen and record it.

Thanks for the proposal. I will convert this to a discussion for now. Once I have a better understanding on what's required to implement it, I will convert it back to an issue. It just makes it easier to keep track of everything.

What's your use case for this?

I would use it to create a video highlighting a specific portion of an app/page I'm developing/testing. Simple way to cut out the rest of the browser, etc... in case I want to highlight a specific animation, hide the other stuff on my screen, etc...

Thank you for getting started on implementing this feature. I have a quick question: can the content area's dimensions and position be configured and saved? For example, if I select a rectangular area on the screen—defined from Point A (X, Y) to Point B (X, Y)—can this be saved as a recording layout? This way, I wouldn't have to redraw the area each time I want to record. Ideally, I would like to save these layouts with custom names and be able to create additional or even temporary layouts that I may choose not to save.

Unfortunately it's not working on macOS: Sequoia (15.7.3).

@Merc-86 thanks for reporting. Please try again. BetterCapture itself should be working on macOS 15.2 and higher. The problem you were facing was a check in the update logic which still used version 26 as the minimum. It's fixed now.
