Why OpenRouter and not Kagi Assistant?

Unless OpenRouter integrates with Kagi, which I don't think it does, what is the point of this project?

I'll add, I'd be very excited to use this if I could just provide a Kagi API token and go through it instead.

On their blog it does say it will integrate with the assistant API later. But I have no idea why it wasn't kagi first, other providers later. Only real reason to use this is if I'm making the most of my kagi subscription

I guess asssistant API is not available yet, and there will be support from day 1 if it releases. Currently the base url stayed as a secret? (but it will probably be OpenAI-compatible, which Openrouter also does, so it will be easy replacement)

I've been using https://github.com/bcspragu/kagi for search using the KAGI_API_KEY, but this seems to be a lacking part of the Kagi ecosystem. Please create/onboard an official CLI tool we can use with AI agents and scripts.

i didn't want to have to use openrouter when i already have a claude code sub so i forked this to add claude code subscription ability. nothing special to it really and could be accomplished w/ a macro if you wanted to but can also pop over to using the openrouter models if you want:

since it's claude code it can also web search and grep, etc. (destructive commands do seem to be blocked and i have some extra protections in there to be on the safer side)

I still think a kagi original would be better.

One kagi command written in Go Lang with options for the service called, Kagi API or OpenRouter API via ENV. All pretty simple to do but supported by the Kagi team.
