Result reliability with staggered-keys layout

Hi, I was wondering if the algorithm only considered standard "rectangoloid" keyboards or also other layouts, i.e. those with staggered key columns, like those running around on r/ErgoMechKeyboards

Context: I'm currently getting a split keyboard ("ferris" keyboard) and I would like to know if I can trust Halmak to be the best layout for that configuration of keys

I've been on ortho for the past 8 years, and used it on Ferris for about 3 years, it's fine. the logic of halmak translates well. if say so myself.

the only thing that felt iffy when i switched to ortho was that the g key is a bit less reachable than on a skewed PC keyboard. but it's so minor i got over it in like a week or so.

well at least that's my experience of it
