I was very happy to see, that you already addressed all necessary changes for being compatible with current releases of markdown.

Maybe you could tag a release in order to make it easier to use these updates in other projects?

You can install it with pip:

pip install git+https://github.com/kernc/mdx_unimoji.git

I can't make a release, but be sure that @kernc can do it.

PS: I am willing to prepare a pull request, which would require just the final git tag for the commit. Maybe this helps?
