Hello. Where can I find the old good version with this UI?

image

The new UI/UX is terrible. It's too flat, there are no icons, no contrast, and everything is small.

"Dead" and will not have updates due to Lens closed it's code, it is not an opensource anymore

Hello!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts about the latest version of Lens. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we genuinely appreciate your honesty. We're sorry to hear that the new UI and performance haven't met your expectations. We want Lens to be the best possible experience for you and the community, so we're taking your concerns seriously. Find more details about what we are working on here: http://forums.k8slens.dev/t/the-new-ui-is-terrible/3689/2

In the meantime there are a few settings you can adjust to customize Lens according to your needs. In the top-left corner of your OS, within the Lens menu, you have the option to zoom in or out to enlarge or reduce the overall interface as needed.
Another option can be found in the General Preferences within Lens, where you can manually adjust the table row line height. By default, this is set to 12px. Give it a try!

We have created a forum thread that informs users about how to revert to the previous version of Lens. You can find the details and instructions there. Please feel free to check it out and let us know if you have any questions!

I am pretty open-minded when it comes to UI changes, but this update... It is terrible. Killed my productivity.
I truly love and appreciate this tool, but this time it pissed me off...

I am glad I found this issue so I could download an older version.

Also openminded here, and its mostly ok but what annoys me is that I can't have log panes follow me around as I look at different resources.

One thing I find annoying is the tree view, I have 4 clusters configured and if I have more than one expanded and I click 'workloads > pods' there is a decent chance I open the pods tab for the wrong cluster. I kinda just prefer the old hotbar because it made the separation between clusters much firmer.

We are planning to move "dock" (the place where terminal and logs are) back to a cluster context (out from a tab context).

We are exploring some ideas related to this, see http://forums.k8slens.dev/t/roll-back-and-feedback-on-the-new-ux/3668/15 for more info.

does anybody have the link for Windows and Linux binaries of the older version prior to the September 2024 update ?

The new UI is just horrible by squeezing the bulk of the menu items into even smaller fonts to the left.

Cluster connection errors also don't appear anymore and you have to click the warning button. Even after fixing the connection issue, I need to restart Lens for the changes to take effect otherwise it'll be stuck with the same old error.

Honestly the old version just works and separates each cluster UI cleanly. Currently the new tabs mixing will cause people to accidentally apply changes to a different cluster.

I'm very sad and disappointed. I share the same thoughts and dissatisfaction of all the people who posted above. I also find it extremely slow to open tabs. At first I tough it was just my laptop but then I tried the new Lens version on another pc and loading a new entity in a new tab can take up to 10 seconds. Whereas the previous old version was just super snappy.
I also really miss the separation of context and terminal tabs between clusters.

I don't mind tabs. It's actually a feature I was looking for. But this radical transformation has been a real failure to me.
I hope you'd reconsider some of your choices.

@binacloud You can try using chocolatery to select an old version to install https://community.chocolatey.org/packages/lens/#versionhistory

I'm also disappointed with this annoying tree with list of clusters, which you cannot even sort manually. Previous was much better.
I had many clusters for different customers ordered in appropriate manner, now everything is like trash

The new version is not suitable for normal use. Also downgraded to 2024.8.291605

Beta channel has now a version that has performance and UI improvements ( https://forums.k8slens.dev/t/lens-2024-10-291652-beta-beta-release/3811 ). All feedback is highly appreciated ❤️

I found the new UI extremly beautiful and better then the old one. Takes a few days to settling in.

My pain points with new UI:

  • can’t search clusters
  • can’t favorite clusters in some way (like in previous hotbar)
  • cluster connection error is hidden and hard to find
  • once my cluster credentials expire, the UI keeps showing old info instead of connection error
  • I don’t use aws EKS, but it’s still showing in the cluster list

Is CMD+SHIFT+P not working just for me? That's a real deal-breaker for me, tried new UI 3 times, hoping for beta to mature, but have to go back.
