the image does not run with docker desktop even when I have integrated windows subsystem for linux available. How can I get around this?

Going to need some debug output or error messages to help.

no error messages I can share as there are none shown. the container just exits as soon as it is run.

Are you using ./docker.sh run to boot the container? It spawns a shell you need to use for the course.
