Having an issue here

Can't recall how to run my commit with the Sphinx option skipped / turned off

(my temporary workaround was to run git commit --no-verify but I assume there is a better solution)

You can avoid running a specific pre-commit with the SKIP=<blah> command where <blah> is the name of the pre-commit hook.

For this specific case it would be: SKIP=sphinx-build git commit -m "You commit message"
