Manjaro Kernel 5.15 19-1: Hangs on "Configuring Interface" after entering password #15

With no further diagnostic information, there is nothing I can do. Check the output of 'sudo journa, ctl -xe' for clues. The usual reason is that you have the wrong secret. |
Hello, I have the same issue when I use master branch, no issue is present, but when I change branch to the second one, and disable roaming, this issue comes up. I have to disable roaming because of the latency issue.
Thank you for your work, I appreciate it very much. |
I am willing to commit some money to purchase an RTL8723DU chip, but I was unable to find one at E-Bay. Are you using a single-board computer with the chip on board? If so, which unit are you using? A link to the device would be appreciated. |
hello, i’ll try to get in touch with the manufacturer, because i don’t want to disassemble it yet. this notebook is being sold only in czechia and slovakia, and nobody knows certainly what actually is inside.
all i can provide you with is czech page with specifications, which actually don’t include the information we want. https://www.umax.cz/umax-visionbook-12wr-gray/
and also, i can help you paying that chip. thank you, have a nice day

So, I got in the touch with the manufacturer, and they confirmed, that
the chip is soldered to the board itself. I was only able to find
https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/2-4G-RTL8723DU-USB-2-In_60822232348.html which has to be soldered unfortunentely.
Unfortunately, I can't even replace this chip there.

I am not interested in buying a laptop for this project. I did find the ROCK Pi E D4W1P or D4W1 with the RTL8723DU chip installed, but the only place with them for sale is at https://www.seeedstudio.com/Rock-Pi-E-c-1569.html?utm_source=cnx_software&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=cnx_software, but they are out of stock. I will get notification when they are available, but I have no idea how long that might take. |
@lwfinger I believe I'm having a similar issue with this model: https://www.microcenter.com/product/646649/evolve-iii-maestro-e-book-116-laptop-computer-dark-grey Works on master branch, not on the versioned branch. |
xubuntu 21.10. Device info (shows up on lsusb, not lspci) |
OK, then use the master branch. I do not have a device, thus all I can confirm that it builds. The device should show up in the lsusb list - it is not a PCI device. |
I checked for a code error that had affected v5 USB drivers, but it is fixed in this code. What kind of failure happens? Is anything logged in dmesg? |
Hi Can this commit from the master branch be added to the 5.13.4 branch? |
I doubt that napi is affecting your issue, but I did make the change. It was necessary. Is there any message associated with the boot problem on Armbian 22.02? Having your dmesg would be a potential help. Who manufactured your RK3999 device? I found a number of vendors, but no mention of the RTL8723DU. I am willing to spend the $70 needed to get one, but I want to be sure it has the right wifi chip. |
@lwfinger |
hey, i had this same issue on laptop. master branch will work, but doesnt include roaming fix. if you want to, you can use this: https://github.com/yurisuki/rtl8723du
its basically a fork with roaming patch applied, and that password issue is fixed. make sure you are using master branch in my repo.

Hi But it seems Armbian has to be built with the 5.16 edge kernel, with the 5.15 current kernel it can't build an image or doesn't boot(or perhaps it's an issue on my side). |
The roaming fix is now applied to the master branch. I saw nothing in that fork that affected any password issue. |
yes, because master branch doesnt have this issue.
