Send a notification with the whole run

Sorry if this has been requested before tried to look for it but couldn't find it, I run dockechk with -api and I get a message on discord notify me for containers with updates like this:

This is cool, I also want it to send another notification after the whole run, so I know if it has been updated or an issue or something happened, and also if the autoprune finished, something like this for example:

n8n

- Auto Prune has removed 1.2GB

I'll try to look into it, I have very little time for new features currently but I'll write down and will look at it when I can!

@vorezal did a lot of heavy lifting on the notifications! Epic work really.
If they got some time to spare to take a quick glance that'd be great 😄 but only if it's not a bother.

(I'm thinking maybe adding successful updates to an array at line 680-683, then create a new notification function for successful updates).

I'll update here if I do any work on this!

I was trying to remember where I had heard about this before. Now I recall a discussion where a DSM user was enabling a DSM scheduled task feature that sends you the entire output and saying it's up up to user preference if they prefer the full output or the dockcheck produced notifications.

Seems a bit redundant to me. If a pending update hung around at each dockcheck run I'd investigate but dockcheck just works. No objection but hopefully any new notification can be turned off if not desired.

I see the gist of that discussion wound up here.

I can see some users would like a "Send a notification with the whole run" feature as the title says. Unless debugging something I personally would turn it off but different people like different verbosity levels.

I think I know how to approach this, but have been a little sidetracked. There are quite a few places to potentially collect messages that currently rely on the native output from commands without capturing it, and choices to make around what should or should not be reported at the end. I see there's a potential tie-in to another issue now as well so I'll see if they can fit together easily.

The sysadmin type folks already use things like tee to get a copy of the script's output. Early on someone asked for a way to disable colors so the escape sequences didn't mess up their output files. @mag37 kindly delivered.

For the less technical would it be possible for dockcheck to optionally log everything with something like this and send the contents of the output file at the end with the existing notification mechanism. I'm worried making changes in various places could introduce bugs and complicate future maintenance.

Has that xargs stuff in there been considered? Do those multiple processes produce output?

I think your input is good though, and maybe more suited for a "debug"-suggestion in the readme or like a future debug-wrapperscript or something. As I think the OP of this issue was aiming more at getting the transactional log of what got updated and what/if some failed - which hopefully will be solved by the #262 in the future!
