Create fsspec FileSystem for optimized reading of remote HDF5 files?

Would it be possible to incorporate remfile into an fsspec FileSystem so that one could get the speedup of remfile but with all of the caching and other options available in fsspec?

That's a good idea. I looked at that link but it wasn't clear on how to get started making a custom backend. Do you know if there's an example I could look at?
