First, thanks for making this bot – I quite enjoy the feed from @soundcloudsaid. There's one thing I miss from the toots, though: Would it be possible to add the comment author and song link to the toots? Or is it left out intentionally to preserve some sort of anonymity?

Thank you so much! I've thought about this myself, because I think it would be an interesting way to discover new music. I like the anonymous, context-free, weird style of the bot and I don't want to change that. What I've considered is a companion bot that replies to each of this bot's posts with a link to the track that it's from (and maybe some other information, like how many tries it took for the bot to find a usable comment, which is often over a hundred). I don't have any immediate plans to build that, but we'll see!

In the meantime, if you want to take the trouble, you can access the GitHub Actions log of the bot to find the track URL for each song that was posted. (Go to Actions › 'Post to Mastodon' action › 'post' job › 'Do post' task, then scroll to the bottom of the log and look for the text "Found the usable comment on this track")

I'm going to leave this issue open for now, in case I or somebody else decides to make the reply bot I mentioned.
