When we download, convert a number of chapters into a compilation

In my case, when I download manga, if there are many chapters, I compile them according to the number of chapters. If a work has 200 chapters, I do it in groups of 10. If they are short, like 60, I do it in groups of 5. It's a good option if you want to make a compilation. It activates and when you download the number you set, for example 5, every 5 downloads, 1 is added to the first compilation. And it will download the next 5.

I would like this option to be selective. You can enter the number that interests you.

Current downloads use a fair-share round-robin, constrained by the max downloads per source and the global max downloads settings.

I’d like to extend fair-share to the series level: if you queue 10 series, the download manager would cycle through them sequentially, distributing slots evenly within those limits.

I’m not sure about the segmented downloads. I'm guessing your idea is to preview a series and commit only if you like it. While possible, it would add complexity to an already over-engineered flow. In practice, the worst case is simply deleting the series if you don’t like it.

This can also be done once the chapters have finished downloading. If the manga, Mahwna, has 100 chapters, once the chapters have been downloaded, they can be compiled; this does not have to be done while downloading. However, I also think it is important to consider the source, because when downloading, scanlators may have incomplete chapters or skip some. I did not consider this either, as it could be compressed, and when the CBZ is opened, there may be incomplete chapters or some may be skipped. I just don’t get it. Compile in what? Segments? All the readers take chapters as the unit. Or I’m missing something? Kavita segmentation is volumes if available, can you explain the logic behind?

When downloading the chapters, instead of individual .cbz files, make them groups.

An option to choose the number of directories to compress. If I want to group them in sets of 5, a cbz file with 5 chapters will be created. If I want 10, they will be grouped into 10 directories in that cbz file.

I'm not looking for it to be logical or to follow anything. Just groupings without following the actual order of the established volumes. In my case, I don't care about that. I just want to read the manga/manhwa. So I group the mangas and then transfer them to my phone. I don't have to transfer 10 separate files if I can have 1 file with 10 chapters. That way, I save time when transferring files to my computer. It doesn't have to process a thousand images. Just one file of about 90 MB, 120 MB, or 300 MB. It's faster that way.

This isn’t currently planned.

The purpose of this app is to download and manage chapters/issues, not to compile them into arbitrary collections. It preserves the original ordering, units, and metadata so that upstream readers/managers can properly index and serve.
Group them or doing otherwise would defeat that purpose.

Right now, the app fills a missing gap in the ecosystem: it lets you automatically subscribe to series. Once you add a series, you don’t need to visit different sites or manually download chapters every week or month, it’ll be ready to read in your preferred reader as soon as it’s available.

I’m not sure how the app will evolve. Maybe plugins could handle post-processing in the future, but for now, that’s not on the roadmap.
