My main 2 playlists have 345 and 146 songs respectively and have been cut down to 99 and 101.

Did your playlist have duplicated songs?

I've checked through all the songs in both playlists and no, there arent any duplicates

I have this exact problem. My playlist has 212 songs but in the simpmusic app its at 101.

I have this problem too. My playlist has 900+ songs
But it display only 101

Me too. One went from 435 to 101 and another 197 to 94.
