Are WordPress and its plugins compatible with HHVM? |
Wordpress is, of course no one can guarantee for all plugins. It seems though that overall HHVM doesn't break many things |
Source for WP compatibility: http://hhvm.com/blog/3095/getting-wordpress-running-on-hhvm (originally written in 2012 but updated after WP 3.9 released) WP ticket in question: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/27231 |
What would be the benefits of having HHVM? |
IMHO, HHVM is far more efficient than PHP for medium and large sites. On a platform like Heroku where dyno hours and memory is precious, HHVM would be a great choice. Of course if your site get < 1000 PV per day, if wouldn't make much difference. |
It would be nice to have HHVM as the new default for PHP
