Windows: just copy the provided EXE file somewhere in your PATH. You can
make your own executable by compiling the provided source file. Tested on
MinGW32 (Free C IDE) and Visual Studio.
Linux:
- Compiling: gcc -DLINUX -o 3e 3e.c
- Installing for non priviledge usage: copy the resulting binary file '3e'
somewhere in your path, and use "sudo" for accessing physical disks.
- Installing for priviledge usage (using a root account):
cp 3e /usr/bin
chown 0:0 /usr/bin/3e
chmod u+s /usr/bin/3e
Installing this way avoids to use "sudo" everytime you want to access
physical disks, but be WARNED: it's not recommended to do this in a public
accessible host, as this program uses functions that rely on a well
constructed TMP environment variable. A mallicious user can fool the program
to write anywhere on the disk by using a specially crafted value for TMP.
Mac OS X: yet to be tested, but should compile and work except for the "scan"
command. Compile issuing: cc -o 3e 3e.c
