What MidoNet Does

MidoNet decouples your IaaS cloud from your network hardware, creating an intelligent software abstraction layer between your end hosts and your physical network.

This network abstraction layer allows the cloud operator to move what has traditionally been hardware-based network appliances into a software-based multi-tenant virtual domain.

High availability (any server, any network service, any time)

Scalability through hierarchy

Reduced protocols

Optimized network traffic with minimal overhead

Try MidoNet in a few steps.

I want to run it now!

Execute this command inside an Ubuntu 14.04 or Centos 7 Virtual Machine with at least 4GB of memory (8GB recommended)

$ curl -sL quickstart.midonet.org | sudo bash

This command will install MidoNet 5.0.2 with OpenStack Liberty. Once finished, you will be told how to log into Horizon.

Fix: VNC not working behind NAT

Most likely, you will try this out in a VM that is behind some kind of NAT. In this case, VNC will not work out of the box. Just replacing the IP in the novncproxy_base_url setting in /etc/nova/nova.conf and restarting the nova-api and nova-console services should fix this.

I prefer to install it by myself

If you prefer to install by yourself, check out the Quick Start Guide for Ubuntu 14.04 / Libertyon the MidoNet Documentation site.
