I've recently tried to start using a raspberrypi zero 2, along with a pi 4 , both runnning lightshowpi with the option to use shairport-sync as a stream in with a defaults.cfg of:
stream_command_string = shairport-sync -v -o stdout
I was able to compile/build the development version as well as master branch, and both seem to have this issue only when running with lightshowpi, where the sync is spedup faster on the pi zero2, than on the pi 4B. all things being equal , i would have expected the 4B to be faster. The issue only occurs on the pi zero2 when run inside the lightshowpi streaming, outside of that it seemed reasonably in sync (standalone command). but this might throw a dent in my plan to sync my christmas lightshow wirelessly. though I do have a backup plan going to try to build a 3rd pi 4 lightshowpi box.
on pi zero2:
4.1-dev-22-gc3102201-OpenSSL-Avahi-ALSA-pa-stdout-pipe-soxr-metadata-sysconfdir:/etc
on pi 4:
3.3.8rc2-OpenSSL-Avahi-ALSA-stdout-soxr-sysconfdir:/etc
