Crossfade doesn't work with HomePod mini or HomePod 2gen but perfectly with shairport sync, which is most important to me as neither mini nor 2gen is for anything other than background music 🙈 |

For the brave (do not do this on your primary device), or for those who have an additional iOS device, I can encourage you to update to iOS 17 Beta if you use Apple Music. The crossfade function is totally worth it and works really well.
I listen to quite a few live albums and I love the function and the way it works
