How to set it up on Android with Termux? Help me, I'm a newbie.

I started using gallery-dl some time ago and it took me some time to nail down all that config stuff. I made it work on Windows and also on WSL and learnt a lot of stuff in the way. But I can't set it up on Android with Termux.

I see people all the time in the Issues page using it to download from ITG and TT normally and having other errors, but I can't make it. I've tried setting it up in all diferent ways, changing config and cookies.txt path (I don't even know if it reads these two files in Android).

I would also like to implement it with termux-url-opener, which work for me with other tools. If someone know anything about.

Someone give a light. I'm using Android 12 by the way and latest Termux from F-Droid. Thanks.

Run it with --verbose and it'll tell you its loaded config and cookies.txt files.

The default paths for config files are still the same on Android as on any other non-Windows operating system. If nothing works, you can always use -c/--config to specify a direct path to a config file.

But if you get the files onto the system and the names are fine, something else is wrong.

Yes @rautamiekka, as I said everything is totally fine with the downloads and the file paths are how I use always. I use other tools too.

I think it might be with the system, because I tested on an Android 9 device with the date keyword and it gives no error.

Colons are forbidden in filenames on Android. One must reformat it like: {date:%Y-%m-%d %H-%M-%S}

Same on Window$. Generally speaking, colons should never be used in filenames.

Install Python: pkg install python
Then install gallery-dl via pip: pip install gallery-dl
After that, what you might want to ask is probably answered already, head over to docs and when/if there is something you don't understand, search for it in Issues (probably closed ones) and Discussions.
