How do I assign a Leader Key?

I apologize if this is stated somewhere and I just missed it, but I can't figure out where to assign a "leader key" or even what the default "leader key" is at installation?

The readme just says [leader] in the examples. I have tried the cmd, opt, ctrl, none seem to work...

I have the same question. I'm trying to configure [leader], but I can't find a way to do that.
In the config, there is an option for app shortcuts, but it is not working for me.

For me it seemed like you cannot add a single modification key (or modification combination). I wanted to assign this to Ctrl+Cmd, however that did not work until I pressed Space as well. Maybe thats a good improvement to also allow simple modification key combos?

Yes, this is how Leader Key works. Only modifiers will not work (see #66)

So it is modifiers+other key or just other key.

Examples:

• ⌘ + space
• F12
• ⌘⌥ + space
• ⌘⌥⌃⇧ + L (hyper key)

Advanced example:

Using for example Karabiner you can do more fancy things like:

• right ⌘ + left ⌘ (bound to F12) my personal favorite
• caps lock (bound to hyper when held, F12 when pressed)

Okay thanks. I was assuming I could just assign my "left CNTRL" key as the Leader Key. Are there plans for that type of thing in the future?

Using something like ⌘ + D works...

+1 on this -- my ideal workflow would be to hit the physical CapsLock key, which I have set to my Hyper key, meaning ⇧⌘⌥^ are pressed. I'd like the Hyper key to be the Leader key, not just when held (which seems to be what #66 proposes), but as an actual Leader key I press, release, and then continue with the key strokes.

@BastianKusserow It's possible but not my use case so can't say when I'll have the time, if ever.

@jsvensson For that you can use Karabiner. Make it hyper when held, F12 (or whatever) when pressed. Lots of examples for how to set this up with hyper/esc.
