Export of orientations obtained using calcComponents command #2300
-
Dear all, Following importing an ODF (odf_A02_c_test.txt) of a cubic system, I plot 'phi1' sections in the Bunge Euler angle space φ1, Φ, φ2. As the crystal symmetry is cubic, Φ and φ2 are resticted to 90°. In the next step, I extract the most prominent preferred orientation using from the ODF 'calcComponents' MTEX command and annotate the resulting orientations using black circles in the 'phi1' sections. So far, so good... When exporting the 'preferred' orientations obtained from MTEX following a projection to the fundamental Region, I obtain a file containing a list of φ1, Φ, φ2 Euler angles (orientations) as well as a file containing the corresponding volume fractions. When looking at the list of orientations, and comparing them to the 'phi1' section plots, it seems that not all preferred orientations annotated in the 'phi1 section plot appear in the list of exported data. Is there something that I am missing, some calculation/conversion I forgot to perform before exporting the data? I am using MTEX 5.10.2. The plot with the 'phi1' sections as well as the exported data are attached. I also attached the Matlab code and the ODF data that I use. Thanks in advance for your help, Yves |

Hi,
there are multiple, symmetrically equivalent points annotated. Adding
'noSymmetry'
to the annotation command should prevent this.Hope this helps.
Cheers,
