Issue with bsky and post text that contains $

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but when trying to post with bsky 0.4.5, text preceded by a $ winds up with the $ and the following character deleted.

For example, Angelos bought the club in 1993 for $173 million is posted as Angelos bought the club in 1993 for 73 million.

I suspect this is a matter of escaping the $ somehow, but could use some help figuring it out.
