I have same problem in media cards.

I found the cause in the issue: the background color of the media card is basically the text color. Im looking were exactly the problem is, probably in home assistant itself

The issue is in Home Assistant itself. Lovelace sets the background color of the media-player card while idle to the text color. I dont know if its intented or not.

Just comment in theme file:
primary-color: 'var(--text-color)'
