Filter notifications?

What are the options to filter notifications?

I can:

• Remove all events from notifications
• Disable alerts from devices
• Remove certain events with a SQL query

Is there more? What are the options for the SQL query? Is there an overview of the database design?

What I like to achieve is to reduce the number of notifications for connect/disconnect and such.
