Dumb/unmanaged switch

I am in a process of moving away from Pi.Alert (leiweibay version) to NetAlertX home assistant addon.
I am struggling to find a way of creating a dumb 10 port network switch with the aim of using that in the network map.
I can create a new device but that wants an IP and a MAC address. I can make something up that that will in turn show the device as offline.
Is there a better way to do that?
Also is there a way to specify that this device has i.e. 10 Ports?
Furthermore I can see that I can specify parent connection but if I for example connect a Switch to a Router how do I specify that the router is connected to port number 10 on the switch and the switch is connected to port number 4 on the router?

Hi @alfwro13,

You can create a dummy device, add a random mac (click the randomise button to create one that will be automatically recognised as a dummy Mac) and a loop back up, e.g. 0.0.0.0. Then you can enable ICMP scan to scan that IP to mark it online.

You just assign devices to the parent port on the children device. Once you assign 10 devices that would represent 10 assigned ports.

Wouldn't be easier to have a checkbox with "Show always online", at least for the dummy devices? Or perhaps a setting like "Show dummies always online"? Having to enable ICMP scan only for a dummy device -that you will probably always want to see online- seems a bit overkill (and to me does not work reliably).
