Following the review of the accessibility guidance we need to conduct an audit of the profession pages and accessibility checklist so we can explore how we might integrate the accessibility checklist into the service manual.

Ideas include:

  • align the resources to list of the most common problems teams are facing (audits and assessments)
  • Rebuilding the accessibility guidance around the checklist - with simpler ways into it? There's lots of duplication between profession pages and the guidance behind the checklist.
  • Review profession pages and content behind the accessibility checklist and make sense of the content together
  • Consider changing nav to reflect/signpost different levels: "Everyone needs to know", "mid-level" (professions), advanced (checklist)?
  • Review grouping of the for professions guidance
  • Explore option of having more examples and code snippets on the profession pages.
  • A page which explains what resources are available for people at different levels~?
  • Review where we have statements around 'everyone's responsibility' and check this is consistent/ not conflicted
  • Consider getting rid of the profession pages
  • Review the usefulness of the profession sections and consider if content would be better placed within the design system or content style guide
  • Identify where people expect to find guidance and make sure we signpost from there
  • Review DfE guidance including do's and don'ts, usage of code snippets https://accessibility.education.gov.uk/knowledge-hub/common-issues/alt-text
  • examples of forms that are broken and how to improve code to align them with wcag
