how to update to glances 4.x from 3.4.0.3 on Ubuntu 24.04 (pipx?)

hello,

I'm trying to update my glances (Glances v3.4.0.3 with PsUtil v5.9.8) which I orignally installed on Ubuntu 22.04, but have since upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04. I'm getting the error: externally-managed-environment errors when trying to upgrade using pip --upgrade, so im not sure how to upgrade using pipx.

I ran pipx install glances but it seemed to have to re-installed the old one.

turns out they made some changes to pip on Ubuntu 23 and 24 that i just relized.

venv is the way to go, but if you just want to update your current install of glances need to add an extra tag

pip install --break-system-packages --upgrade glances
pip install --break-system-packages --upgrade psutil
pip install --break-system-packages --upgrade glances[all]
