Produce travel-time map

OK, as for a TT map, they do exist, a google around and you will find a few examples. One can also be remade, but it is a bit of a hassle, there is a software out there to do it efficiently:

but I don’t have it. I have been meaning to buy it for a number of years, but have managed without it so far!

here is an example of one:

but it is kind of crappy, we could make one better. ideally one that looks like this:

I have been able to download all contours for Auckland based travel times in vector form NOAA's ArcGIS MapService

• Image query
• Shape file (zipped)
• Online version for preview

With this we can

• produce a custom travel map to embed with the sources page (User learns about source regions and source locations #24, Hazard manager learns about general tsunami sources and estimated travel times #42) and
• potentially also add it as an interactive map overlay (Hazard manager learns about general tsunami sources and estimated travel times #42, User adds contextual GIS layers to map #74)
