Alternatives to Pari...

I know this has come up before, but I thought I should put a discussion here as a placeholder. There may not be any other decent factoring (etc.) package we can use. But Pari does have drawbacks. In particular, when I posted for help with cypari2 not compiling, I got the following information:

This part of Sage - cysignals+cypari2 - is not in a good shape. Cypari2 leaks memory on serious computations, because reference counting is not a good combo with Pari's memory model of putting verything on stack, with caching.
Cysignals has a test which fails.

If we are just thinking about factorization, the Factor Database (http://factordb.com/search.php) could be an alternative/supplement to Pari
