<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 新細明體;">Perl 推廣組 (僧侶團)，這到底是甚麼樣的組織呢？簡單的說，這是全世界各地的 Perl 使用者社群，就跟全世界的 LUG (Linux User Group) 一樣。他們有著同樣的喜好，大多是一群技客 (Geek)。雖然是由各地自行組織的地方性組織，可是 Perl 推廣組還是有著中央的聯絡單位，作為各地 Perl 推廣組的支援單位，而台北 Perl 推廣組正是全世界幾十個 Perl 推廣組其中之一。</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 新細明體;">台北<span> Perl 推廣組申請成立於 1999 年，不過前幾年一直沒有太多的活動或是成果，主要的原因在於沒有足夠凝聚人氣的動力。到了 2002 年，第一本以「台北 Perl 推廣組」掛名翻譯的書「Perl 學習手冊第三版 (Learning Perl 3rd Edition)」正式出版，Taipei.pm 才得以確定能推動各式活動的核心成員。也在第一本翻譯成果完成之後，台北 Perl 推廣組又繼續和出版社合作，翻譯了「深入探索 Perl 程式設計」，「Perl 網路程式設計」等等 Perl 相關的書籍。</span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 新細明體;">Perl 在開放源碼界應用極廣，Yahoo、Amazon 等各大網站皆採用此一語言，但在國內，Perl 的實際應用並不常見。相較之下，PHP 等開放源碼語言在國內的實用率，或許比 Perl 更高。Perl 強大的文字處理能力、Regex 語法，使 Perl 在資料處理上，有其他語言難以項背的特性。在國外，Perl 除了商務應用，其觸角更已延伸到政府、學術機構等不同層面。看過這些國外的實際應用案例，也許妳/你可以考慮將 Perl 應用在目前遇到的問題上。之前看似麻煩的瑣事，或許就因為 Perl，而立即迎刃而解。</span></p>

<td style="font-size: 12px; color: #444444; line-height: 200%;">能想像嗎？硬梆梆的電腦語言，也能和情人節、和寫詩聯想在一起。沒錯，ActiveState 就在 2004 情人節舉行了這樣的競賽，讓公司內的電腦人用 Perl 語法寫出、或寫出與 Perl 相關的俳句。既然是 Haikus (日本三行俳句詩) 競賽，標準當就是要符合其基本要求--每首作品只能三行囉。有趣的是，參賽作品中仍有以註解行標示來 做技術性犯規者。</td>
