Management command to `update` not finding pyapp wheel

I built an exe called aicam.exe. When I do aicam.exe self update with a newer version I get the error:

ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement aicam (from versions: none)                           
ERROR: No matching distribution found for aicam

Shouldn't pip find the wheel package bundled in the exe?

Yeah, it looks like in the current implementation it can't. In my case pip/uv corrupt the installation.
