Using a custom runner?

Is it possible to use a custom runner if, for example, tests are run in a container? I configured as below but it seems to do the same as if running outside the container (I was basing this off of the configuration for neotest-python.

      runner = "docker-compose run test bundle exec rspec",
    }),

It's currently tied to bundle exec rspec but would happily accept any pull requests.
