Research available standard scanner APIs. If available, implement one of those, in order to make it as compatible as possible.
Start basic implementation to be able to scan through API.

Should we make this a TWAIN TCP/IP driver? If we make it a TWAIN driver, maybe it could be a driver that could be open sourced and made available to the larger community, as it would work with existing scanning software. Then we would make ourBFD9k TWAIN comp

Or a Restful driver? If we have to design our own, probably we should make it as lean as possible, or as aligned with SCSI, so that it becomes more of a passthrough?
