Configure
---------

  * IMPORTANT:

      The library is now compiled as a statically linked archive,
      rather than as a shared object.  Strongly recommend completely
      uninstalling previous release(s) if installing over the top.

      The "config" file for selecting collective implementations has
      been removed, use environment variables instead.

  * Allow compile now in source directory or in separate build
    directory

  * Run configure with "--help" to see all options/flags

Build

    * Some performance improvements, e.g. at start-up

    * Added some more experimental features, including:
