Content item selection when grade passback mode is "course" #2559

The following is with LTI 1.3 (I have not tested with LTI 1.1).

Using D2L, and a WeBWorK course where grade passback is set to course, I activate the content item selection menu in D2L. I could place a link to the "Assignments" page, but I am also offered links to individual assignments. Even though I am using course grade passback, I may be interested in using these assignment-specific links, for convenience of directing students to specific places.

However when I select these (all of the links: generic landing page and all assignment-specific links), my D2L grade book is populated with grade columns for each assignment. (And there is not a column for the overall WW grade.)

After I follow the landing page LTI link and initiate grade passback, then of course a grade column for that overall WW score appears in the grade book and is updated. Of course nothing I do is going to send grades back for those assignment-specific columns.

If I'm using the content item selection tool and the grade passback mode is "course", then I was surprised that:

  • this created grade columns for each of the assignments
  • this alone did not create a grade column for the overall WW grade

Is it relatively easy to at least change the behavior for the first thing?
