Clear selection on type

Hi,

I have a single select with a set of fixed options. Currently, when I start typing in the textbox while having an option selected, the text is inserted after the existing text. I think it would make more sense to clear the selected option while typing to search for another. Is there any builtin support for this? Ideally, you would also be able to hit Escape to revert back to the selected option.
