I am getting about half of the refresh rate set by xrandr and the frame rate of the GPU output. This is confirmed both by Moonlight's incoming framerate report and just looking at how smoothly the game is running on the monitor vs the gamestream client. At 4K60 my client gets between 27 FPS and 31 FPS; with1440p120 I get between 55 and 69. The visible difference is readily apparent at 4K where Witcher 3 runs at 60FPS almost perfectly while the client displays an (IMO) unplayable framerate of 30 or lower.
I have left the encoder settings at default, set them to the highest performance oriented modes available, and compared performance with forcing software/auto/nvec settings. I have confirmed that Sunshine is indeed using hardware encoding by forcing the software encoder with a result of high CPU usage in steam's big picture mode and framerate of less than 20 at both 1440p and 4K. I glanced through the debug and verbose logs but have not been able to find a line which states the encoder used so I was unable to confirm via the logs. Otherwise no errors that I could find (4K logs are posted in a gist below).
Currently on v17.0 (installed from AUR using yay following the install/usage steps laid out in the docs) but also had the issue on v16.0. Desktop environment is KDE on X11. (May not be relevant) I am unsure what was changed in v17.0 but my screen massive tearing issue was resolved in v17.0.
I apologize if the answer/fix is obvious - I have done quite a bit of searching github, Google, and Reddit without much luck.
