Why can't we just do something like this:

if (html.length === 0) {
          const slice = parser(text);
          if (!slice || typeof slice === 'string') return false;

          view.dispatch(view.state.tr.replaceSelection(new Slice(slice.content, 0, 0)));
          return true;
}
