We are constantly thinking of ways to improve Quali’s support and response time.
Part of this approach includes monitoring of the CloudShell logs for errors and possible failures, even if you have not noticed anything unusual.
In order to monitor customers' logs we ask for their consent to send the logs information from their CloudShell server to a cloud-based monitoring tool we are using (https://logz.io/).
Most probably those logs have been shared with us in the past, when we investigated issues. The request here is to proactively push these logs to our monitoring tool for constant monitoring.
We highly value our customers' privacy, therefore we would like to emphasize that the data sent includes ONLY the logs data as it is stored today in CloudShell, and that the customer information will be sent anonymized.
We will be reaching out to customers to ask if we have their consent to activate this process within their deployment.
We are open to any question or concern that you would like to raise.
Q&A:
Q: What is logz.io? Is it secure?
A: Information about logz.io can be found on their website https://logz.io/ and specifically about security concerns at https://logz.io/product/soc-2-compliance/
Q: How frequently are you collecting logs and in what hours?
A: The logs are sent as they are written to the CloudShell Application Server logs. The intention is to activate and forward he CloudShell server error logs.
Q: What files are you collecting? How big they are usually?
A:We are sending only errors that we write to the CloudShell Application Server logs. The amount of data being sent depends on the amount of errors but usually it’s very minor.
Q: What ports should be opened in the firewall?
A: We’ll need port 8090 open for outgoing traffic only
Q: What bandwidth you estimate it will consume?
A: This depends on the amount of errors but usually it’s a small amount of data. One can open the current logs files and view the logs items tagged as errors. This exact information will be sent to logz.io
