Launch Shell command from Studio test

CloudShell Shells contains commands which can be executed from the sandbox GUI or using TestShell API.

In case the user wants to launch Shell command from TestShell Studio he will need to use the TestShell API library.

The following article will explain how to launch Shell commands from Studio test.

1. Make sure that the Shell is imported into the CloudShell server.
2. Make sure you created a shell instance - see 'Adding resource base on Shell'
3. Create a blueprint (Topology) and add the shell resource to the blueprint.
4. Reserve the blueprint.
5. In TestShell Studio: create a new test and drag the TestShell API library to the test.
6. You can use the 'GetResourceCommands' method in order to get the available Shell resource commands - in the function input set the Shell resource name as it is present in the Sandbox(Reservation)

   

7. Locate the requested command name (under the Name column)
   Note: the DisplayName column will show you the command name as it is shown in the CloudShell Portal, but the Name column has the value that will be used next.
8. Now add the 'ExecuteCommand' method to the canvas:
   1. Reservation ID - your sandbox reservation id.
   2. Target Name - the Shell resource name as it is present in the Sandbox(Reservation).
   3. Target Type - Resource.
   4. Command Name - the requested command name as it is shown in the Name column (as described above).
   5. Command Input - if needed (string matrix of 'key' and 'value' - the list of inputs is also available from the function above).

      

9. Activate the command.
10. In the CloudShell Portal you can see that the command starts its execution.
