Copilot inline chat backspace broken

Pressing backspace in copilot inline chat doesn't work when using ideavim in Jetbrains tools. It just moves the cursor in the editor one character back rather than the inline copilot chat.

workaround: entering Vim Insert Mode before using copilot inline chat

To do this, you then either need to access copilot inline chat via keyboard shortcut or right-click menu when in VIM insert mode. Unfortunately, can't seem to have anything highlighted or that moves VIM back to visual mode.

Still an issue, inline chat is kinda unusable in Rider/Webstorm due to this.

It's not just backspace, but when attempting to paste from the clipboard, it will paste into the editor behind it and not the Copilot chat input.

Copilot updates 5x a day. Can somebody on the team include this fix in one of them?

I have this issue too! Guys, there's another plugin called 'continue'. You can check it out at https://continue.dev
It has inline chat that can run with basically any llm at this point. Not sure if or when this will get updated.

This is just an option. I'm not affiliated with continue, I just use the inline edits. I love copilot personally. I think the autocomplete is great, the inline edits are so handy tho and once I've used it I can't go back. I really hope one day copilot has inline edits like continue. Even if they fix this backspace issue continues inline edit is a better workflow. No diff windows, it does that for you. It's a new project tho so it's a little buggy too.

Press “Shift + Backspace” instead of “Backspace” to delete in the inline chat.

As a workaround, you can temporarily disable IdeaVim when you need to interact with Copilot inline chat, then re-enable it after.

Is Copilot lurking these threads? Cause I hope a human did not just advise turning a plugin on and off (with a mandatory restart in between) just to use the inline chat momentarily.
