Embulk until v0.8 had embulk.gem as a different format of Embulk core distributions.
Embulk v0.9 did not have embulk.gem.
Embulk v0.10+ have embulk.gem required to run with JRuby.
The point here is that embulk.gem is totally different between v0.8 and v0.10+. We observed that it sometimes caused problems, especially when using Embulk with Bundler.
Proposal
Our proposal here is to "yank" embulk.gem older than v0.8.39 from: https://rubygems.org/
Embulk v0.8 is so old (2017). In addition, as far as we know, embulk.gem had been used so rarely until v0.8. Almost all the users used embulk-X.Y.Z.jar, not embulk.gem.
We wanted to hear your thoughts, especially if you still need embulk.gem until v0.8.
