Greetings, MiniOSlings.
I've been testing MiniOS Standard edition v.4 for about a week, as a persistent USB stick.
Thanks to the developer(s) for putting this out there.
I found it very refreshing to have the bare minimum software installed. I'd rather spend my time installing what I want than deleting things I don't want.
I delight in the minimal, very lucid interface and the snappy performance on my 2012 Toshiba Satellite. So far it has been very easy to figure out in spite of skimpy documentation.
Question: Why Modules? APT works flawlessly for installing software on my copy of this OS, and so does Synaptic (installed using apt). All my favorite apps I've installed also work flawlessly on this OS.
Installing apps as modules doesn't seemed to be explained anywhere in a way that I can understand (or have I missed some documentation somewhere?) regarding either HOW or WHY. Is there a reason I should struggle to learn this? Does it offer any real advantages for casual use as a portable OS-stick?
