There have been a number of posts on GitHub regarding Instrument/Staff show-hide (via the eyeball)and its interaction with Mixer Mute/Play settings.
Here I want to leave the matter of Mixer and Mute aside and aim this discussion purely at the eyeball UX which I find less than ideal ... or perhaps simply partly nonsensical.
The link above explains my concerns, so at this point I'm simply submitting a couple of videos without narrative or supporting text. I think viewing it will raise questions about various aspects of eyeball toggling.
Of singular importance though, on pair of linked staves, I see no reason for a click to either staff selecting the entire instrument in the Properties panel. That behavior alone is the source of much peculiarity, so I wonder if it serves some important purpose? If not perhaps it's a poor design, or maybe it's just an vestigial behavior that's not yet surgically extracted or repaired.

I've laid out the blow-by-blow account here on museScore.org
