Yes, This assumes we’re talking about ‘spatially varying slopes’ where the random field represents a slope effect, not AR1 fields in another dimension. The argument is spatial_varying.

If the question is whether you can predict the abundance of each age class with correlation, then you would need a multivariate model, which is not currently implemented in sdmTMB.
