Description
GUI applications installed via Homebrew casks are correctly placed in the /Applications folder, but they aren’t indexed by Spotlight. This means they don’t show up in search results, even though they’re technically installed and visible in Finder.
This seems to be a macOS indexing issue, possibly due to quarantine flags or missing metadata. It affects usability, especially for users relying on Spotlight to launch apps.
Potential workarounds might include:
• Manually removing the quarantine attribute (xattr -d com.apple.quarantine)
• Triggering a reindex (mdimport or mdutil)
Would be great to explore a declarative fix or post-install hook to ensure Spotlight visibility.
